Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 304.26 to 305.12 points, a gain of 0.28 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.19 percent to 300.69 against 300.13 points previously.
The equity market capitalization added XOF 14 billion (about US$22 million) to close at XOF 7,420 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,406 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 194,631 traded stocks relative to 575,121 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,122 million (against XOF 2,633 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 234 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 152,869 traded securities (accounted for almost 79 percent of the total volume). TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 546.372 million contributing about 49 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 14.21 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.34.
Among the 31 traded securities today, 16 stocks experienced price gains, 9 witnessed price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended positive. SMB COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer by adding 7.50 percent to end at XOF 18,490. CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE rose by 6.36 percent at XOF 74,995 and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL traded at XOF 85,000 by climbing by 4.93 percent. BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE price increase of 4.76 percent to close at XOF 110,000 and CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 26,000 with 4.00 percent gains.
BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 6.57 percent to settle at XOF 185,000 and NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE decreased by 5.16 percent to close at XOF 57,000. Likewise, CIE COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 2.41 percent to close at XOF 81,000 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 2.41 percent to trade at XOF 16,000. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE price traded at XOF 106,000 after plummeting 0.93 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index slightly gained 0.01 percent at 165.12 points but public utilities sector index plunged by 0.18 percent to close at 832.09 points. The distribution sector index rose by 2.11 percent to end at 540.24 points and financial services sector index surged by 1.03 percent to end at 110.11 points. The agriculture sector index sagged by 0.79 percent to close at 203.71 points. Transportation sector index closed at 901.36 points after falling by 6.44 percent and miscellaneous sector index rose by 0.65 percent to closed at XOF 561.79 points.
